Energy:  Oil

The world literally runs on oil.

Minnesota has no commercial oil resources; U.S. production peaked in the early 1970s; the world's oil production has recently peaked or peak production is close at hand.

There is still lots of oil. However, the first one-half was extracted over a time span of approximately 150 years. Unless change is made, the second half will be substantially exhausted in the next 15 - 20 years.

Moreover, the "sweet" high quality crude will be replaced by increasingly expensive, lower quality and difficult to extract crudes.
